Annual Events

United Way Week
Each Fall, Metro-Meridian students and staff participate in the community's United Way Campaign.  Money for the United Way is raised through a special week of fun activities, which students "pay" to attend.  Past activities have included volleyball and basketball tournaments, movie days, and special auctions.

Red Cross Blood Drive
A Red Cross Blood Drive is usually held twice each year -- in the Fall and in the Spring.  For many students, it is their first opportunity to give blood.

Holiday Dinner
The Holiday Dinner has become one of the most memorable traditions at Metro-Meridian. Each December, students, parents and other special guests share in a traditional holiday meal prepared by students and staff.

Prom
Prom is held in the school's multipurpose room in April. A committee of students and staff plan the event.  Fundraisers, such as weekly doughnut sales, help keep the cost of tickets at a minimum.

Graduation
Metro-Meridian's commencement ceremony is held at Century II.  The day begins with graduation practice, followed by a senior class picture and the Senior Breakfast.

In addition to commencement, there is another special tradition for graduating seniors at Metro-Meridian.  When seniors complete all their required coursework for graduation, they earn the privilege of "ringing their bells."  The bells are rung three times, signaling to the entire school that another senior has finished.  A picture of the senior is taken to add to the school's book of graduates, and an announcement is made over the intercom so everyone can cheer and celebrate the student's success!
