COMING SOON

The MetroMeridian Book Club is going to take part in THE BIG READ, a program that has the whole city reading the classic  My Antonia by Willa Cather. Written in 1918, it tells a heartbreaking and inspiring story of early-day settlement on the plains. The main character, the free-spirited, generous and courageous immigrant girl Antonia, is a timeless heroine. You can find out more about THE BIG READ by going to www.bigreadwichita.org.. The more people in Wichita who participate, the better! It is sponsored by the City of Wichita, USD 259, Friends University and WSU, most of the bookstores and museums…a long list!

I hope to get a good crowd of students to join us, and a lot of the faculty. If you’d like to be a part of it, contact me at aesbrook@usd259.net. We meet for a little lunch and discussion 3 or 4 times in the course of reading a book, but you’re welcome to be a part of it even if you can’t come to the meetings.
